Pastor’s Welcome

Welcome Visitors

Years ago when Becky and I were newly dating, she spent one long summer counselling out at Faith Bible Camp, while I worked back in the city. Feeling like I just couldn’t live without her, I wrote her a letter every day. She still has all those letters, bundled together with a ribbon—ah, those sweet romantic days!

However deep and profound our own experiences of love are, they’re a mere drop in the vast ocean of God’s abounding love, compassion and mercy for us, his beloved people. The Bible is God’s long, poignant, sometimes shocking, but always beautiful love letter to us. In fact, the answers to our most pressing questions of identity, meaning, and purpose in life are found in God’s Word—his trustworthy revelation to us.

Our theme for the 2017-2018 year is ‘Living by the Word,’ as we seek to understand more fully who God is, and what he desires to do in and through our lives. Indeed, reading, memorizing and studying the Scriptures are shared habits that shape us daily into faithful and authentic Christ-followers. And so, throughout this year, our sermon series, ministries, and activities will focus on the relevance and importance of regular Bible reading and teaching.

Our church strives to be a place to belong; there’s a place for everybody, and all are welcome to grow, worship and serve together! Our church motto is ‘Connecting with God, loving people,’ and so we are encouraged to be not just proclaimers of the gospel, but living examples as well.

On behalf of our church family here at Charleswood, I invite you to join us as we learn and study God’s Word together, as we ‘continue to live [our] lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness’ (Colossians 2:6-7).

Yours for his sake,

Gavin Hall
